Responsibility – The Prerequisite to Stewardship
Responsibility – The Prerequisite to Stewardship
Luke 16: 10-12 says:
“He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteousness mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if you have not been faithful in what is another man’s, who will give you what is your own?”
Apostle Nolan Ball has spoken to us so many times over the years regarding these simple keys to success that we believe hold true for anyone. Be faithful over the little things, over another man’s things, and be faithful over your money.
This is a Kingdom principle that we have not only embraced throughout our life, but we have observed many others move into that place of abundance by starting out simply Taking Responsibility at their starting point.
The opposite of being responsible is entitlement and dependence on someone else to meet your need. Everyone in every situation has the opportunity to be faithful over something. It may be very little to start, it may not be monetary but some other element such as your time, your resources, your measure of empathy towards others, or setting yourself in a position to help meet someone else’s need. What is so easy to overlook in that moment, is the fact that the provision of abundance that you seek, is all locked up in that small act of being responsible for the little in front of you, whatever that little may be.
True Responsibility must be embraced, not imposed. It comes from a decision made deep within ones being to take ownership for themselves and in doing so, they take a step towards one day entering into a place of stewardship over much. True Stewardship is not taken, it is given to those that have been and continue to be faithful in the little things, those that have empathy for others, and to those who have taken personal responsibility for their choices.
